💜 What are Flower Essences?
Flower Essences are believed to contain the vibrational energy of flowers and of the Earth. They are made by either floating the plants in water or calling upon their spirit while being amongst them and your water cup during ceremony. The alchemy between the plant, the water, and the moonlight help infuse the essence of the plant into the water. Just like how we are succumb with good feelings when we think of someone we love, the same happens on a vibrational level with plants, and this is a big part of their medicine. Essences are thought to help improve negative emotions, alleviate anxiety, pain and help one feel more grounded.
These essences are thought of as being a powerful way to help break down internal energetic blockages, allowing one to further connect to themselves, others, the Great Mother and all of her creations on this deeply vibrational level. These essences are a vessel in which to pass on the energetic magic & lessons of whatever plant is being utilized, helping overcome various imbalances. Typically if a plant can't be used internally for either toxic reasons or harmful alkaloids (like comfrey or foxglove), they still have so many wisdoms and lessons to offer us energetically. Essences are a special and intimate way of bonding with the plants and the earth, and cultivating that energy within.
💜 Myth & Magic of Foxglove:
Foxglove is one of the first plants to pop up after Wildfires & in clear cut forests. Seeing her gorgeous bright blooms towering over a forest taken by fire or one taken by loggers, is a stunning vision of hope.
Her presence indicates her protective & nourishing nature. Her spirit is of the Fae, joyfully bringing promise in hopeless spaces & brighten silver linings. She’s wonderful at guiding our hearts towards next steps, helping us move thru fear & uncertainties. She playfully allows us to find gratitude for things we have, while raising our vibration to align with what we truly seek.
Foxglove is similar to Hawthorn, in the way she works energetically and physically with the heart. She was used as a heart tonic from the Ancient Celts to the Romans to the Slavs. Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) is used in modern day to make a prescription dr*g, Digoxin/digitalin ~ a powerful heart medicine.
I’ve spent more times than I can count, weeping at the heels of Foxglove as she towered over me. I spent so much time in the wild forests of Oregon and Washington this summer, spending a lot of time with Foxglove as she grows almost everywhere. I felt called to create this essence for a long time, but it wasn’t until the Sacred Sabbath of Lammas that everything aligned perfectly for me to work with her in creating this essence as an offering. Using the no-pick method, I spent hours with Foxglove, holding ceremony and in ritual beneath her blooms, singing to her, telling her of my intentions with utilizing her energy in making this offering for others. I am so honored and excited to bring her magical presence to you in the form of this flower essence.
The heart-spirit of Foxglove helps break toxic patterns, allowing process of unresolved grief & trauma. Her energy is uplifting, supportive, gentle, opening & soothing. She helps us on a vibrational level, enhanced with the magic of creating this essence on the Sacred Sabbath of Lughnasadh, & combined with raw PNW honey.
💜 How I craft my Flower Essences ~ I love to work with plants out in the wild, untouched by humans and usually chose places I visit often. I spend a lot of time in ceremony with them, making Essences on holy days like Sabbaths & along with the Moon phases. I work with plants I’m really drawn to, that comfort & teach me lessons. I often cry, give offerings, sit, sing & talk to them while explaining my intentions in seeking their guidance. It’s a deeply grounding and connective act for my spirit, resulting in creating Essences for self & others, making the whole experience feel cyclical & beautiful. I often use the non-pick method for poisonous plants like Foxglove.
I use local mountain spring water & the only thing I have of my Great Grandmother - her crystal bowl that was passed down through my Motherline, to me. I wander around, touching & singing to the blooms while asking their help & guidance. I ask their willingness to lend their vibrational energy & wisdoms over to us. I sit beside the bowl in the Meadow, I am often moved to tears as the meadow of blooms hold me, as the Moonlight reflects brilliantly through the crystal bowl.
